Playing Music teaches about tempo, dynamics, and expression with games, performance videos, and a glossary of music terms. Then, it relates the concepts to written music by showing the appropriate expression marks on sheet music. Finally, it allows children to create their own interpretations of classical music and see it performed by three lovable characters. Recommended for ages 8 and up.With Playing Music, children can experience music at the most basic level-before even picking up an instrument or learning to read. Morton Subotnick’s series of interactive music games make it fun to play with the fundamentals of pitch, rhythm, and sounds of various instruments and styles of music. Children learn what it means to play a high or low; soft or loud; and fast or slow note-with lovable characters and detailed explanations to guide them along the way.
